Tia's Plant Journey

Our next plant journey story is from the wonderful Tia aka @viathevegan on Instagram! Tia is 22 years old and is originally from London!

1. When did you start your plant-based journey and why?

I went vegan in November 2018 after watching a ton of documentaries about Veganism and after being inspired by several Vegan individuals on Instagram and social media. Prior to this, I was already consuming a predominantly vegetarian diet as my body didn't react well to cows milk, cheese and other dairy products and I rarely ate meat. Being inspired by others and discovering the truth about how meat and dairy got to our supermarkets and the suffering involved, as well as the massive impact this has on our planet, I felt going vegan was the right thing to do! My close friend Georgia (@veganpixie_) went vegan before I did, was always so passionate about it and educated me on a lot of facts about the meat and dairy industries which definitely played a part in my decision to go vegan.

2. Is there a certain food you miss and what do you have as a plant-based alternative?

I used to love eggs and so I do miss buttery, scrambled egg! However I've managed to find a scrambled tofu recipe which satisfies this craving!

3. What’s your go-to easy dinner?

My favourite easy go-to dinner would either be black bean balls with spaghetti or any vegan pie with veg! The bean balls recipe takes about 10 minutes to make and I just love a good pie that you can just chuck in the oven!

4. Who is your favourite/most inspiring plant-based account to follow?

For me, it is definitely Georgia Skye aka: @veganpixie_ ! She is a close friend of mine and has played a huge part in my vegan journey. Her content is incredibly inspiring and high quality and her personality is infectious! I love to watch her reviews and vlogs on youtube as well as catching up with her for a coffee and a chat!

5. Where do you see the future of Plant-Based eating?

I see the future of plant-based eating only getting more advanced and widely available and the number of plant-based consumers increasing steadily. There are so many more options available already than there was a year and a half ago, so I can't wait to see how plant-based eating continues to take over our supermarkets and restaurants!

6. Which EAT.PLNT meal would you like to try the most?

Moroccan Style Chickpea Pie

7. Do you have any advice you would like to give to those just starting a plant-based diet?

This is YOUR journey and every journey to a plant-based diet is different. Cutting out a few non-vegan meals a week to start with is great and still is making a huge positive impact on our planet. Be patient with the journey and experiment with new meals and foods as you will be surprised as to how much vegan goodness is available! Research as much as you can into Veganism as this will help you form your individual purpose for going vegan and allow you to influence others to do the same. If you have instagram, follow some Vegan accounts! They are so fun and inspirational and I have learnt SO much from the lovely instagram community over the course of my journey, as well as been inspired to try dozens of new recipes!
