Em's Plant Journey




Meet Emma (@em_and_plants) , aged 26 and living in London! Em is a fairly new starter to the plant-based lifestyle and we think you are going to love hearing her plant-journey!


1. When did you start your plant-based journey and why?

I started almost one year ago, January 2019. It’s hard to pin point specific reasons but, I had a friend who is a passionate vegan and loves to share the positive message and I think over time spending with her, and not being forced but my views being accepted, I decided to give it a go. I did prior to that have some interest as January 2018 I stopped cooking with meat, dairy and eggs in my house and only cooked vegan. However, I still ate non-vegan when I was out so it was quite a change but, that year of cooking and learning taught me what I did and didn’t like, also how to cook vegan as well. As when I first made the switch I wondered what I would actually eat!


2. Is there a certain food you miss and what do you have as a plant-based alternative?


I miss cheese, and sometimes I slip up and buy a cheese sandwich I always feel guilty that I paid for the cruelty and that I enjoyed it. Other than that I don’t buy dairy free cheese as there’s few that I like and the ones I do are expensive.


3. What’s your go-to easy dinner?

Mash, linda’s and beans!


4. Who is your favourite/most inspiring plant-based account to follow?


@aveganfuneral because she is just so diverse with how she cooks, and since going vegan this year I’ve watched her go from veggie to vegan and fully embrace the change and make a lot of things from scratch, including adapting recipes. She’s definitely a natural.


5. Where do you see the future of Plant-Based eating?


More mainstream than it is now and more options of to-go food than there is currently.


6. Which EAT.PLNT meal would you like to try the most?


Smoky Chipotle Vegetable Chilli


7. Do you have any advice you would like to give to those just starting a plant-based diet?


Don’t think too hard, everyone makes mistakes you’re making a difference even if you do meatless Monday’s for example. Don’t give up and reach out to people for advise if you need it.
